Some advantages to certain conditions or illnesses:

Patients undergoing chemotherapy and / or radiation feel weak and miserable. After all chemotherapy and radiation are very stressful for the body. This manifests itself mainly in nausea, vomiting and a reduced appetite. It is also known that the diagnosis "cancer" and the side effects of the heavy treatments cause anxiety and depression in the patient. This often manifests itself in sleep problems. These patients benefit from the use of medicinal cannabis because they are less susceptible to nausea and vomiting. In addition, they have a better appetite. Medicinal cannabis is also anxiolytic (decreasing anxiety) and often provides better sleep quality. Better sleep, less depressed and less weight loss means a less weakened patient.

Palliative setting:

Many cancer patients experience severe pain. Medicinal cannabis exhibits a synergistic reaction with opiates and can therefore ensure that the doses (and consequently the serious side effects) of the latter can be reduced. Less pain and less severe side effects imply that the patient is mentally calmer. In palliative care where heavy opiate medication is often given, the reduction of opiates can ensure that the patient experiences more clear moments and sleeps less during the day. This qualitative end of life often gives the patient a form of comfort because he can spend his last moments in a more humane way with his loved ones.

Fibromyalgia and other chronic or neuropathic pains:

In these conditions, medicinal cannabis often provides significant general pain relief and a better night's sleep.

Multiple sclerosis:

Medicinal cannabis mainly provides a positive effect on the tremor and spasticity. The muscles become more relaxed. This beneficial effect together with the pain relief and better sleep give the patient a better quality of life.

These patients mainly suffer from tremors, spasticity and motor disorders. This neurodegenerative disease also causes sleep disorders and anxiety in many people. When using medicinal cannabis, the muscles are more relaxed and the vibrations less intense. Many patients also indicate that they experience better sleep quality and feel less depressed.

Intractable epilepsy:

Is a form of epilepsy wich is difficult to treat, it means that different classic anti-epileptic drugs do not produce enough results. The use of medicinal cannabis can then be considered in combination with regular anti-epileptics. When this combination of therapy starts, we see a decrease in frequency and / or intensity. Another improvement is the shortening of the required recuperation time after an epileptic seizure.

Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome:

Patients with this neurological disorder suffer from compulsive expression of severe tics. These can be motor, vocal and thought-tics. Since the patients have difficulty suppressing them, this condition manifests itself in a larger problem (muscle spasms, pain, anxiety, sleep problems, depression and social isolation). Treatment with medicinal cannabis gives the patient mental peace, which greatly reduces this compulsive behavior. The advantage is that the patient feels more calm, can build a better social life and thus can adopt a more positive attitude to life.
